It has been a year since Singapore Airlines (SIA) launched their flights from Domodedovo International Airport. On this occasion, a press conference was held today in the premises of RIA Novosti (Russian News & Information Agency).Participants included Mr. Jayraj Shanmungam, General Manager, SIA in Russia, Mr. Peter Tomash, PR Manager for SIA, Mr. Sergey Shpilko, President, Russian Union of Travel Industry and Mr. Alexey Raevskiy, Deputy Director, Domodedovo airport.In the course of the press conference, SIA officials expressed their satisfaction with performance results for the year. Domodedovo International Airport summarised its performance results for two months of 2007. Statistics shows that Domodedovo holds the leading position among Moscow airports. Overall passenger traffic of Domodedovo reached two million one hundred and twenty nine thousand passengers in January/February 2007, a 20.2 per cent over the same period in 2006.The biggest growth was recorded on flights to Ekaterinburg, Hurgada, Bangkok, Tashkent, London, Utapao, Saint Petersburg, Dushanbe, Chelyabinsk and Istanbul. Some 492.5 thousand people went through our airport in January/February 2007, which exceeds first two months of 2006 by 50% per cent.Passenger traffic in February 2007 exceeded one million people which constitutes 20.5 per cent rise over February 2006. Starting today, the Rapid Transport System (RTS) train connecting Domodedovo International Airport with Paveletskiy train station increases its service frequency. Total number of services from Paveletskiy is now 28 times to and 27 times from the airport.The new 22:34 service from Paveletskiy station in Moscow will be arriving in the airport at 23:17. The new return service will be departing from the airport at 13:00 and arriving in Moscow at 14:15. Altogether, there are 6 trains with 8 to 10 carriages commute between Paveletskiy station and Domodedovo. Currently, the feasibility of introducing additional Aeroexpress service connecting Domodedovo airport with Belorusskiy station is being examined. Three new destinations have been added to to Domodedovo International Airport route network. As from March, direct flights from Domodedovo will connect Moscow with Verona, Athens and Khanty-Mansiysk.The Verona flight will be second destination after Forli for Italian Wind Jet. Domodedovo International Airport Announces Operating Results for First Month of 2007

According to the results of Domodedovo International Airport activities in January 2007, Domodedovo is maintaining its leading position among Moscow area airports in terms of passenger traffic. Overall passenger throughput at Domodedovo in January 2007 reached 1,128,000 passengers, a 19.8% increase over the same period of 2006. The highest growth was recorded to destinations such as Ekaterinburg, Hurghada, Bangkok, London, Tashkent, Utapao, Istanbul, Zurich, St Petersburg, Baku. Domodedovo handled over 252.5 thousand passengers on these routes, a 50% growth over January 2006. Additional information: Passenger throughput on international routes in January 2007 reached 679,000 passengers, a 25.4% increase over the same period of 2006. Domodedovo International Airport announced today the launch of two new intermodal projects designed to take passengers from downtown Moscow to the city of Ekaterinburg in 225 minutes and to the city of Chelyabinsk in 230 minutes. The new service is being implemented in co-operation with Aviaprad airline. Domodedovo International Airport has announced 2006 cargo traffic results showing overall traffic reaching 126,300 tonnes, a 6.8% year-on-year increase. The key factors for the increase include launch of services of new airlines from the airport, use of more spacious aircraft by air carriers and growth of cargo transportation on domestic routes supported by the strong growth of the Russian economy. Cargo traffic volume in December 2006 amounted to 11.9 tousand tonnes, 4.1% rise over December 2005.

Air Berlin Launches Service to Domodedovo

Today Air Berlin, a German budget airline, launches regular service from Nuremberg to Domodedovo International Airport. The air link will be the first between Moscow and Nuremberg. Nuremberg will be the seventh German city linked with Domodedovo. Air Berlin will operate its flights to Moscow three times a week – on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays – using a Boeing 737-700 with 144-seat capacity and a Boeing 737-800 with 189-seat capacity aircraft.It was announced in August of 2006, that Air Berlin had acquired a 100% interest in dba.
