Lufthansa in Domodedovo

Today, April 1st, German airlines Lufthansa, the largest foreign carrier in Russia, transferred all its Moscow flights from Sheremetyevo to Moscow International Airport Domodedovo. Lufthansa is the leader of Star Alliance, one of the biggest air carriers’ alliances in the world. Currently, six members of the alliance – Swiss, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, Austrian Airlines, bmi and Spanair – have been operating in Domodedovo. Thus, one Moscow airport will have most of Star Alliance members. Lufthansa will connect Domodedovo with five German cities – Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt. The airline will be operating 69 services to Domodedovo per week. Its first flight Lufthansa performed tonight. The first flight LH3196 from Munich performed by Airbus A319 landed tonight at 2 hrs 15 min. Domodedovo rated the best airport in Eastern Europe by ACI Europe

Upon summarizing 2007 results, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo took the 1st place in terms of growth rate in its group and the honorable 19th place among European airports. Domodedovo was also recognized the leader among airports of Eastern Europe. These results were announced at the Annual ACI Europe Conference held on March, 20 in Brussels. The overall passenger traffic of European airports increased by 6.5% in 2007 compared with 2006. It shows the effective and stable growth of European airport's development.Moscow International Airport Domodedovo, nominated in three categories, was recognized the leader in Group 2 comprising airports whose passenger traffic varies between 10 and 25 million people per year. From Domodedovo to Disneyland!

Winners of the Children’s Drawing Contest “Meet Your Childhood Dreams in the Airport of the Future” took Domodedovo–Paris flight to the city of eternal childhood, Disneyland. Representatives of Moscow International Airport Domodedovo and sponsors of the event honored the winners, 8-year old Bogdan Kuplevatskiy from Pechora, Republic of Komi; 7-year old Yulia Kiseleva from Moscow and 11-year old Maksim Sarychev from Vidnoe, Moscow region. Kids will spend a week in Paris and will visit Disneyland. The jury also praised some participants who could not make it through to the contest final. Thus, the youngest artist, only 3-year old Semen Ivanov from Moscow received the special prize from Murzilka magazine, the compete set of magazines for 2007 and a toy. Bogdan, who has been in the focus of everybody’s attention, was a little anxious for this was going to be the first flight in his life. Georgian Airways to recommence flights to Domodedovo

Georgian Airways recommences air transportation with Moscow. The late evening round-trip Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi service will be performed daily. Air communication between Georgia and Russia as well as other transport connection was aborted by Russian side in October, 2006. Yesterday, March 19th, Russian aviation authorities informed Georgia on their consent to recommence the air communication from March, 25 2008 based on existing arrangements between the aviation authorities of both countries concerning operation of dedicated airlines’ services, - Russian Department of Transportation reported.   >>>


Intercontinental flights from Domodedovo

Yesterday, March 19, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo and Singapore Airlines held a joint press-conference at Marriott Grand Hotel’s press-centre on the occasion of launching new Singapore – Moscow (DME) – Houston flight. The first service is to fly on March, 20. Upon commencing the new route, Singapore Airlines flights will be offered daily. Thus, in addition to three flights a week operated earlier on Singapore – Dubai – Moscow (DME) route, there will be 4 more Singapore – Moscow (DME) – Houston services. Eurofly commences regular flights from Moscow International Airport Domodedovo to Bologna

Moscow Domodedovo International Airport confirms its standing as the leader among Moscow airports

According to the February 2008 operation results, Moscow Domodedovo International Airport continues to remain the leader among Moscow airports in terms of passenger traffic. The airport welcomed 1,257,484 passengers in February 2008, which is a 25.6% increase as compared to February 2007. The following destinations demonstrated the greatest passenger traffic growth: St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Bangkok, Vienna, Novosibirsk, Dushanbe, Phuket, Mineralnye Vody, Madrid, and Dubai. In January/February 2008, Domodedovo serviced 542,853 passengers traveling to these destinations, which is 1.7 times the number of passengers serviced on flights to these destinations in the first two months of 2007.   >>>

Voting stations to operate at Domodedovo airport on March 2nd

In view of the upcoming election of the President of the Russian Federation, temporary voting stations No.412, No.413, and No.414 will operate at Moscow Domodedovo International Airport on March 2, 2008.Passengers and airport visitors unable to vote on March 2 at their places of permanent residence will be able to cast their ballots at one of the airport’s voting stations, provided they present absentee certificates which may be obtained from territorial or precinct election commissions. Airport employees on duty will also be able to vote at one of the airport’s voting stations.Voting station No.412 will be organised between the VIP lounge and the first check-in island. Moscow Domodedovo International airport maintains it's leading position among Moscow airports

According to January 2008 performance results Moscow Domodedovo International airport keeps maintaining its leading position among Moscow airport in terms of passenger traffic.Total passenger traffic in January amounted to 1 371 209 passengers, a 21,5% increase over the same period in 2007.
