On June 2, 2008, German airline Lufthansa, the largest foreign air carrier operating on the Russian market, will increase the number of flights from Berlin and Hamburg to Moscow International Airport Domodedovo. For now Lufthansa operates two flights to Berlin and four flights to Hamburg. Yesterday, on May 27, within the programme for regular airport tours, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo welcomed children from "The Childhood" Children's Rehabilitation Centre. Specialists from the airport explained the children how to find their way around the terminal and described preflight procedures. Through the airport windows children watched the aerodrome machinery and aircraft in operation. Special emphasis was made on services to people with limited mobility. Kids visited special department providing escort services to these group of passengers.

Expecting the final of Champions League, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo will host around 100 charter flights and business aviation flights with football fans on board, coming from England between 19 and 21 May. According the operational activity data for April 2008, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo keeps holding the leading position in Moscow aviation hub in terms of passenger traffic. The total airport’s passenger throughput between January and April 2008 was 5,676,676 passengers, that is a 23,8% rise over the same period of 2007. The passenger traffic for April 2008 was 1,595,188 passengers, that is a 24,2% rise over April, 2007. The primary growth was registered on flights to Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Saint-Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Dubai, Antalia, Frankfurt, London, Dushanbe. 482,659 passengers were carried on these routes in April, 2008.

On May 9, 2008, Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport will hold a series of events dedicated to the 63rd anniversary of the Great Victory. Scenes from the life of soldiers will be staged at the airport terminal complex, the centre of the festivities. All day long, travelers and airport guests will be overlooked by a small detachment of soldiers wearing military uniforms from the times of the Great Patriotic War. Everyone will be able to take pictures of an improvised soldier halt. Passengers and airport guests will enjoy the holiday atmosphere, feel the spirit of the war time, and have a taste of what the war heroes felt. They will be greatly assisted in doing so by a number of Victory Day posters displaying newspaper pages dated May 10, 1945 which will be put up on the walls of the terminal complex. As May holidays are approaching, many Russians will go on vacation. It is expected that passenger traffic of Moscow International Airport Domodedovo during May holidays will exceed the same period of the last year by up to 20% and will total 975,000 passengers. ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International – European division) has published a report on performance of 106 European airports in February 2008. According to the report Moscow Domodedovo International airport is the leader of 2nd Group which passenger traffic varies from 10 to 25 millions passengers per year. Domodedovo airport comes first with its 25.6% of growth in February 2008 (in comparison with the results of the same period 2007) of among fast-growing airports of 2nd Group. Second position holds Berlin Tegel International Airport (23.3% of growth), third comes Vienna airport with its 20.3%. Average growth ratio of the Group reached 10,3% in comparison with the results of February 2007 and 17,8% of growth in comparison with the results of 2006.

The installation was put on display in the middle of Domodedovo passenger terminal. It is dedicated to commencing direct air communication between Moscow and Bologna operated by Eurofly. Since January, 2005 Moscow International Airport Domodedovo has been steadily maintaining its leading position in Moscow aviation hub in terms of passenger traffic. According to performance results for March 2008, the airport welcomed 4,081,488 passengers between January and March 2008, that is 23.6% a rise over the same period of 2007. The passenger traffic in March, 2008 totaled 1,452,795 people, or 23.9% more than in March, 2007. Flights to Saint-Petersburg, Krasnodar, Bangkok, Vienna, Novosibirsk, Dushanbe, Phuket, Mineralnye Vody, Madrid, and Khabarovsk registered the highest growth. From January through March, 2008, the airport serviced 773 320 passengers flying to these destinations, that is 1.7 times more than in first three months of 2007. The intensity of take-offs and landing operations in March, 2008 was 14 699, an increase to the same period of last year by 14.3%.
