Wedding ceremony at Domodedovo airport!

A wedding ceremony was held today at Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport. A young couple, Denis and Natalia, asked Domodedovo to allow them to have their marriage registered at the airport on the day of a magical combination of numbers - 08.08.08. The airport’s administration agreed to meet the wishes of the young people and set out to organize the ceremony. It was not by incident that the country’s main air harbour was selected for this remarkable event. It was here that the young couple met one year ago. On that fateful day, Natalia was traveling on business to Vienna, while Denis was traveling on holiday to Baikal. “I arrived at the airport, checked myself in, and decided to have a cup of coffee. That is where I met Denis. Domodedovo airport operation results for the first seven months of 2008

Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport has summarized its operation results for the first seven months of 2008. According to the statistics, Domodedovo continues to lead among the airports of the Moscow aviation node in terms of the passenger traffic volume. In January – July 2008, the airport serviced 11,955,779 passengers, which is a 19.5% increase as compared to the same period of the past year. In July 2008, the airport serviced 2,301,672 passengers, which is an 8.9% increase as compared to July 2007. The passenger traffic volume on the routes to the following destinations has grown most significantly: St. Petersburg, Frankfurt, Kaliningrad, Munich, Sochi, Bangkok, Sharm-El-Sheikh, Vienna, and Krasnodar. In January – July 2008, Domodedovo serviced 2,104,645 passengers on these routes, which is 1.7 times the number of passengers serviced on these routes in the first seven months of 2007.   >>>

The AVKOM-D Business Aviation Centre located on the territory of Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport will host the “Russian Business and General Aviation – 2008” air show on July 31 – August 3, 2008. Today, on July 29, the women’s water polo team of the Russian Federation, which represents our country at the Olympic Games in Beijing, left for China from Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport. Domodedovo Technique to start Boeing 737 heavy maintenance at “C” check level

European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) conducted audit of Domodedovo Technique to certify company’s capability to perform heavy maintenance services up to “C” check for Boeing 737-300/400/500 aircraft types. The EASA commission concluded that the company successfully passed the certification inspection. It is planned that Domodedovo Technique will receive its official Certificate and start offering C-check services in early September 2008. At the same time Domodedovo Technique has signed Agreements of intent for providing heavy maintenance services up to 4C check for Boeing-737 aircrafts with KD avia, ORENAIR and Transaero Airlines. “Russian operators are rapidly expanding their fleets by acquiring foreign-made aircrafts. New Wind Jet flights to Domodedovo

Wind Jet, an Italian low-cost air carrier, will operate a series of flights from Palermo to Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport as part of its summer travel programme. Domodedovo is a leader among Moscow airports

According to performance results for June 2008, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo continues holding leading position in Moscow Aviation Hub in terms of air traffic. The January/June 2008 passenger traffic totaled 9,654,107 which is 22.3 per cent up against the same period of the last year. In June 2008 the airport welcomed 2,124,151 people, which is a 15.2 per cent rise over June 2007. The highest growth has been registered on flights to St-Petersburg, Bangkok, Frankfurt, Vienna, Novosibirsk, Munich, Sochi, Sharm El Sheikh, and Khabarovsk, Between January and June 2008, the airport welcomed 1,864, 937 people which is 1.6 times more than within first half of 2007. Aeroexpess Ltd. takes over the operation of train services between Paveletsky Train Station and Domodedovo Airport

As from yesterday, July 9, the train service between Paveletsky Train Station and Domodedovo Airport will be operated by Aeroexpress Ltd. The project was previously owned by Central Suburban Passenger Communication Company Ltd.The new management plans to put in operation upgraded cars and to increase the frequency of train services.Domodedovo airport was first in Russia to launch train services between the airport and the city centre. To date, over 25 per cent of passengers choose this mode of transport to get to Domodedovo. Since August 2002, over 18.5 million people have used the express train."The high-speed train is obviously the most convenient mode of transport for air passengers and allows to save substantial amount of time in the journey to the point of destination. Volga-Dnepr airlines to launch new flights from Domodedovo

Volga-Dnepr airlines opens flights to Cheboksary and Ulyanovsk from Moscow International Airport Domodedovo. Flights to Cheboksary will be performed from July 1st by Yak-40 three times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Volga-Dnepr will become the second carrier in Moscow aviation hub after Open Air to operate flights from Moscow to Cheboksary. Russian team will get support!

Tomorrow, June 26th the Euro-2008 Russia v Spain semi-final match is to kick-off. A million-strong army of football fans is supporting our team. From June, 27 Transaero airline to launch scheduled flights from Domodedovo airport to Vladivostok. Aviation spotting at Domodedovo airport

Between June 18 and 19, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo, the pioneer in aviation spotting, welcomed the group of aviation photography enthusiasts and provided access to most convenient spots at the landing area. Around 30 world's spotting stars got together in Domodedovo and spent there two days. Stuck to their cameras, they couldn't take their eyes off the airfield in pursuit of capturing the moments from ordinary yet exciting airport life. For two days the apron, runways, taxi ways turned into spotters' workshop, where aircraft's landing and take-offs were in the main focus.Last year the spotters requested to hold such events more frequently, and this year the airport made the request materialized. ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International - European division) has published a report on performance of 107 European airports in March 2008. According to the report Moscow Domodedovo International Airport is the leader of Group 2 welcoming between 10 and 25 million passengers per year. Moscow International Airport Domodedovo maintains leadership

According the operational activity data for May 2008, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo keeps the leading position in Moscow aviation hub in terms of passenger traffic. Between January and May 2008 Domodedovo welcomed 7,529,956 passengers, that is a 24,4% rise over the same period of 2007. The passenger traffic for May 2008 was 1,853,280 people, that is a 26,5% rise over May, 2007. The primary growth was registered on flights to Saint-Petersburg, Bangkok, Frankfurt, Vienna, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Munich, Krasnodar, Sharm El Sheikh, Dushanbe. Moscow International Airport Domodedovo in summer months

According the forecasts, Domodedovo’s passenger traffic growth will make more than 17 million passengers between June and August, 2008. That is a 15% rise over the same period of last year. Domodedovo intends to serve more than 3 million passengers on domestic flights and more than 4 million passengers on international flights.  The growth as compared to 2007 will compose 23% and 10% correspondingly. Domodedovo’ airlines-partners will perform the traditional summer flights to popular beach and tourist resorts in Turkey, Spain, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Montenegro and others.
