S7 Airlines launched a new regular flight from Moscow (Domodedovo) to Yekaterinburg today. Daily flights to this destination will be operated using comfortable Airbus А319 aircraft. In addition to S7, flights between Domodedovo and Yekaterinburg are operated by Transaero and Urals Airlines. In 2007, the passenger traffic on this route grew by 48.3% and amounted to approximately 468,000 people. In the same year, the passenger traffic between Yekaterinburg and the airports of the Moscow aviation node exceeded 772,000 people, which is a 34.5% increase as compared to 2006.

Ostrava – new destination available from Domodedovo airport

The routing network of Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport has expanded by a new destination now that “Polyot” has launched regular flights to Ostrava (Czech Republic). Flights from Moscow to Ostrava will be operated on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, departing at 23:50 and arriving at 00:40. Flights from Ostrava to Moscow will be operated on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, departing at 01:40 and arriving at 06:25. The flights will be operated using SAAB-2000 aircraft. Ostrava is a new destination not only for the airline and the airport, but also for the entire Moscow aviation node. It is the fifth Czech city to which direct flights from Moscow are operated. “Now that direct flights to Ostrava are available, Russian passengers will have a chance to discover an ancient city, the third largest Czech city after Prague and Brno. A group of cynologists of the Aviation Security Service of Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport is checking general education schools of the Domodedovo municipal district for explosives and detonation devices on the eve of September 1. This inspection is undertaken to prevent terror attacks and ensure children’s security in the course of the “Day of Knowledge” celebration.“The airport’s cynology group has been assisting the Domodedovo department of internal affairs in carrying out preventive activities on the eve of September 1 for three years now. All cynologists of the Domodedovo airport are highly qualified as we take training of our personnel and patrol dogs very seriously”, - says Eldar Tuzmukhametov, the head of the Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport Press Service.

According to the report Moscow Domodedovo International airport is the leader of 2nd Group which passenger traffic varies from 10 to 25 millions passengers per year. Domodedovo airport comes first with its 15,2% of growth in June 2008 (in comparison with the results of the same period 2007) of among fast-growing airports of 2nd Group. Second position holds Berlin Tegel International Airport (9,9% of growth). The Prague and Vienna airports are ranked third (7.6%) and fourth (7.4%), respectively.
