In November 2010, 2,508,821 passengers traveled with airberlin, i.e. an increase of 8.4 percent (November 2009: 2,314,734 passengers, including those traveling on the acquired NIKI and TUIfly routes). At 74.9 percent, fleet capacity utilization surpassed the level of the corresponding month of the previous year by 3.2 percentage points. For the period from January to November 2010, a total of 31,307,036 passengers traveled on airberlin's flight route network (including the acquired NIKI and TUIfly routes), i.e. 3.8 percent more than in the corresponding period of the previous year (January to November 2009: 30,163,413 passengers). Crash Rescue Activities on Tu-154 Emergency Landing in Moscow Domodedovo Airport

On December 4 2010 at 2 37 p.m. Moscow time emergency aircraft TU 154 of Dagestan Airlines operating from Moscow (Vnukovo) to Makhachkala in the South of Russia made a rough landing in Moscow Domodedovo Airport.All airport services had been informed in due course and they were ready to handle emergency landing of the aircraft. About 90 officers of Moscow Domodedovo Airport and 34 of its equipment units were engaged to the rescue operations. By 3 36 p.m. Moscow time the rescue activities had been completed as a result 172 passengers were saved (i.e. 3 passengers per minute). Two passengers died in the airplane crush, injured passengers – 82 – were delivered to hospitals in Domodedovo and Moscow.Those passengers who didn’t need or refused from serious medical help were accommodated in a passenger terminal of Domodedovo airport. airberlin reached an operating profit (EBIT) of EUR 171.7 million for the third quarter of 2010; however, the accumulated figures for the first nine months of the year could have been better: The harsh winter and the flight cancellations caused by the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland reduced EBIT to EUR 44.8 million. As at 30 September 2010, the net result for the first nine months amounted to EUR -14.6 million.Total revenue for the quarter reached EUR 1.241 billion, i.e. is a 5 percent increase over the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Gatwick will soon be airberlin?s second airport in London after Stansted. From 7th February 2011 airberlin will be linking Hanover and Nuremberg with the airport to the south of London. The number of weekly services from both German airports to London will remain unchanged. From February until October 2011 inclusive airberlin?s red and white aircraft will consequently be taking off twice a day from Nuremberg to Gatwick Monday to Friday and once a day on Sunday.
