Four Years of Cooperation between Singapore Airlines and Domodedovo
On March 2 Moscow Domodedovo Airport and Singapore airlines marked four years of successful cooperation.
The airline and the airport have been partners since 2006 when a flight Singapore – Dubai – Moscow (Domodedovo) – Dubai – Singapore was launched to operate three times a week. Singapore Airlines pioneered this flight in the Russian market. The service was available till June 2009.
March 23 of 2008 was a historical day for Domodedovo when Singapore Airlines operated its first scheduled flight first ever in the airport's history to Houston - the oil capital of the United States. The popularity of a new flight Singapore – Moscow (Domodedodovo) – Houston – Moscow (Domodedovo) – Singapore prompted to increase its frequency to five per week prior to New Year holidays in 2009.
Four years of cooperation saw about 1350 flights provided and 380 thousand passengers carried. Since Singapore is one of the leading world transport hubs Russian passengers know the true value of an option to reach almost every destination of the Asia Pacific region from one of the best airports in the world - Changi. Connecting flights from Moscow to Indonesia, Australia and Malaysia are the hottest choice of travelers.
Singapore Airlines is a member of Star Alliance. There are 12 members of the Alliance operating flights from Domodedovo at the moment.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia. Its market share in total passenger traffic in Moscow makes 46%. At the moment 78 partner airlines (34 foreign, 28 Russian and 16 from the CIS) connecting over 220 destinations operate flights all over the world. The unique route network covered by Domodedovo partner airlines provides for 89 exclusive destinations. In 2009 18,7 million passengers benefited from Domodedovo services.
