Season of records is now open at Domodedovo Airport
Passenger flow amounted to 2 million 751 thousand people in June 2012
Resuming the results of June 2012 Moscow Domodedovo Airport traditionally became the leader in terms of passenger flow among the airports of Moscow aviation hub: 2,751,577 people attended the airport, which is 6,2% more than in June 2011. An absolute record in number of passengers served per day was achieved on June 30, 2012: 114 661 people. The last year record passenger flow was set on August 14 and amounted to 109 238 people. Number of flights in June 2012 reached the mark of 23,458 takeoff and landing operations.
Following the results of June 2012 the passenger flow of domestic airlines amounted to 1 107 563 people, which exceeds by 11,8% the results of corresponding period last year.
The number of passengers served by international airlines increased by 2,8% compared to last year and amounted to 1 644 014 people.
Following the results of H1 2012 Moscow Domodedovo Airport served 116 885 flights, which exceeds by 2,6% the results of corresponding period 2011. For the first six months of 2012 the passenger flow increased by 10,0% to make 12 344 997 passengers.
The passenger flow on domestic airlines amounted to 5 008 382 people, which is 12,8% more than in H1 last year. The biggest increase is recorded in the following domestic destinations: St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Anapa, Sochi. The number of passengers served on these destinations flights amounted to 1 408 thousand passengers, which exceeds the results of corresponding period last year on 23,9%.
The passenger flow on international airlines increased either and reached the mark of 7 336 615 people (another 8,2% to January-June period 2011). The biggest increase is recorded on the following international destinations: Kiev, Dubai, Minsk, Bangkok, Barcelona. In January-June 2012 the mentioned destinations served 921 thousand of people, which increased in compare with the results of H1 last year by record-breaking 41,6%.
For the H1 2012 the Domodedovo freight traffic increased by 3,4% compared to the results of corresponding period last year and amounted to 89 276,5 tonnes.
By regular development of services quality, in June Domodedovo Airport offered its passengers to try the new technical innovation - an automatic system of independent access of passengers to the boarding gate (Self Boarding Gate). Within the framework of a pilot project, which is implemented by aviation hub in partnership with SITA, two automatic gates are installed in the departure hall of domestic airlines. The only thing a passenger needs to do is to put the boarding pass to the bar code scanner on Self Boarding Gate: if it corresponds the flight, the gates will open automatically. So, the travelers will be able to pass quickly – one gate can serve up to 15 people per minute - and comfortably the control procedure at the departure gate.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport keeps on attracting passengers by a wide and constantly evolving geography of flights. In the end of July, “Transaero” airlines will launch the flight to the most romantic city in the world - Paris. Flights from Domodedovo Airport to Paris Charles de Gaulle will be operated every Wednesday and Saturday by a Boeing 737.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport in passenger traffic in Russia. In 2011, the airport served 25,701,610 people, which enabled it to become one of the largest airports in Europe according to the ACI classification. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been chosen for flights to Moscow by members of the world's leading aviation alliances - Star Alliance, oneworld. Since 2009, Moscow Domodedovo Airport tops the list of the best airports in the Eastern Europe by quality of service, according to an annual survey by the independent research company Skytrax Research (UK).
