In May, Domodedovo Airport served 2,267 mln passengers
In May 2012, Domodedovo Airport once again became the leader in passenger traffic among the airports of the Moscow aviation hub: it served 2,267,260 passengers, which is 9.9% more than in April of this year. The number of airfield operations amounted to 21,210.
In the period from January to May 2012, 9,593,420 people used the airport services, which is 11.2% more than in the same period of 2011.
5,692,771 people (plus 9.9% by January-May 2011) used Domodedovo Airport for international flights. The highest growth was recorded on the following routes: Dubai, Kiev, Bangkok, Minsk, Phuket. During the reporting period, Domodedovo transported 764,000 people there, which is 41.4% more than in the last year.

Passenger traffic on domestic routes amounted to 3,900,649 people, which is 13.1% higher than in January-May of the last year. The growth of this index was provided by the following domestic routes: Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Anapa, Sochi. Passenger traffic on these routes amounted to 1,090 thousand people, which is 24.1% higher than in the same period of 2011.

Domodedovo Airport is developing freight routes: for the first five months of 2012, freight traffic of the airport was 72,619 tons, which is 3.3% more than in the same period of the last year.
Domodedovo Airport is continuously developing the quality of services provided to passengers at the airport. Thus, in May, Domodedovo passengers were able to taste a new menu developed specially for the spring-summer season by the Domodedovo Catering Service. It was created with the participation of Rainer Sigg, world-class chef, winner of Michelin stars.
Since May 20, passengers who fly from Domodedovo by tourist flights of Transaero Airlines using travel packages of Biblio Globus may register and pick a seat at the airplane already at the stage of buying a package. This unique service allows them to save time for registration.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport attracts passengers with a wide and ever-growing route network. In May, three airlines have opened four new routes (Noyabrsk, Gothenburg, Ulyanovsk, Gorno-Altaisk), two of which, Gothenburg by Yamal Airlines and Gorno-Altaisk by S7 Airlines, are unique. In May 2012, the airport faced the increase in frequency of flights on four routes: Kazan (S7 Airlines), Riga (airBaltic), Mineralnye Vody (S7 Airlines), Barnaul (S7 Airlines).
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport in passenger traffic in Russia. In 2011, the airport served 25,701,610 people, which enabled it to become one of the largest airports in Europe according to the ACI classification. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been chosen for flights to Moscow by members of the world's leading aviation alliances - Star Alliance, oneworld. Since 2009, Moscow Domodedovo Airport tops the list of the best airports in the Eastern Europe by quality of service, according to an annual survey by the independent research company Skytrax Research (UK).
