Moscow Domodedovo Airport has summarized the January results: passenger traffic increased 13,8%.
According to the results of January 2012 period, passenger traffic of Domodedovo airport amounted to 1 846 941 people, which is 13,8% more than January 2011 period. The airport handled 18 137 flights or 2% more compared with the relative period.
Domestic sector marked 700 159 people handled in January which is an increase of 27,3% compared to 2011 figures. The following Russian destinations have resulted to be the most popular: Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Novy Urengoy, Krasnodar, Sochi. The passenger traffic on these routes has increased 60,4%.
International sector marked 1 146 782 people handled which is an increase of 6,9% compared with January 2011 period. The most dynamic increase of passenger traffic was registered on the following routes: Kyiv, Geneva, Dubai, Rimini, Frankfurt, making 46,4% (pic.2). The passenger traffic to these destinations reached 155 thousand people and amounted to 171 thousand people (pic.1).
In January freight traffic of Domodedovo airport increased 5,4% compared to the relative period last year and amounted to 10 333 tons.

Following 2011, the airport has served 25,701,610 people and entered the group of the largest European airports, according to the ACI classification. Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been chosen for flights to Moscow by members of the world's leading aviation alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld. Since 2010, Moscow Domodedovo Airport has been on top of the list of the best airports in Eastern Europe in terms of the service quality, according to the annual survey by the independent research company Skytrax Research (UK).
