The Directorate – General for State Environmental Review has given the go-ahead for the new runway
At the end of 2011 the Directorate – General for State Environmental Review of Russia has issued a favourable conclusion в„–1330-11/ГГР-5762/04 for project documentation "Reconstruction and development of Domdedovo Airport. Objects of federal ownership (first and second phase of the project)". It is yet another step in the execution of the decree on the construction of a new runway in Moscow Domodedovo Airport executed by Russian Ministry of Transport in May last year. It emphasizes the significance of Domodedovo airport in the development of the Russian transportation system.
In accordance with project documentation and the exert report the new runway will be located 1837,5m parallel the axis of the existing Runway-2, the latter is to decommissioned in the view of reconstruction.
The length of the new runway is 3800m, its width is 60m which is complies with ICAO classification code 4F. The geometric characteristics and load bearing capacity of the new runway are sufficient to handle all types of aircraft including Airbus A-380.
The new runway will have installed equipment allowing to perform takeoff and landing operations in the meteorological conditions matching category III A ICAO.
The capacity of the new runway will be no less than 45 takeoff and landing operations per hour.
