Passenger flow on the international air lines (IAL) in January — August grew by 19% and composed 9 mln 643 thousands of people, on the internal air lines (IAL) — by 13% to 5 mln 237 thousands of passengers.
In August 2011, Sheremetyevo Airport serviced 2 mln 489 thousands of travelers by air, which is 17% more than during the analogous period of the last year. In this case a quantity of passengers on IAL grew by 18% to 1 mln 605 thousands, on Internal Air Lines — by 15% to 883.7 thousands.
The most popular foreign directions in eight months of the current year are: Antalya, Paris, Istanbul, Prague, Pekin, Kiev, and federal — Saint Petersburg, Krasnodar, Sochi, Yekaterinburg and Kaliningrad. Antalya, Prague, Pekin, Rome, Larnaca, Bangkok, Sharm el-Sheikh were the most popular among foreign directions of mass summer vacation.
“Aeroflot”, “Avianova”, “Transaero”, “Nordavia”, Nordwind, “Aerosvit”, “Air France” and “Turkish Airlines” airlines have provided the main growth of the passenger flow over the period from January to August, 2011.
