Moscow Domodedovo Airport greeted the winners of the X World Geography Championship
On Monday, 1 August, Moscow Airport Domodedovo, together with the Russian Geographic Society, greeted the winners of the X World Geographic Championship: Alexander Bondarchuk and Maria Samoletova of St. Petersburg, team captain Egor Shustov of Irkutsk region and a head of the Russian delegation, associate professor if the Department of Geography of the MSU named after Lomonosov Aleksey Naumov.

San Francisco, USA, hosted the championship, organized by the National Geographic Society of USA, from 23 to 28 July. Teams from 17 countries participated in the competition. Russian team was confronted by the teams from Canada and Taiwan in the finals. Russia scored 27 team points, Canada – 22, Taiwan – 15.
Russian victory is even more valuable since it is the first victory in the history of the championship from 1993 (the competition is held once in 2 years).
The Russian team was trained with the support of the Russian Geographic Society.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia, accounting for 44% of the total volume of passenger traffic of the Moscow Aviation Hub. In 2010 22.3 mln. passengers used the services of the airport. More than 80 air carriers are the partners of the airport, including Russian and foreign airlines.
