Record July: Moscow Airport Domodedovo sums up for the month
Aleksey Raevsky, Deputy Director of the Moscow Domodedovo Airport for Commerce, commented on the results of the month: "We have updated two key figures in July. These would be the record of monthly passenger traffic - the airport served 2.9 mln. people; and daily value of the passenger flow, which went over 105 th. people twice".
On 1 July 2011 daily passenger flow of the Moscow Domodedovo Airport reached 107 206 passengers for the first time in the history. And on 31 July 2011 this new record was broken by one more maximum - 109 825 passengers.
Reaffirming its title of the largest airport in Russia in July 2011 Domodedovo has increased number of flights for 16.3% if compared to July of the last year; total of 24 071 take off and landing operations was performed. Passenger flow of the airport in July 2011 was 2 912 932 people, making it 17.9% more than in July 2010. For the period from January to July 2011 137 966 flights were handled, which is 18.4% more than in the same period of 2010. The passenger flow experienced 15.5% growth in comparison to January-July 2010.
Active increase in the international routes is seen, it has increased for 22.1% comparing to July of the last year. Following direction account for the most of this increase: Antalya, Barcelona, Munich, Frankfort on the Main, and Pafos. In January-July 2011, the above routes were chosen by 1 618 people, which is 66.1% more than the figure for the same period last year.
Following internal flight directions showed the most growth: Krasnodar, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Makhachkala, and Rostov-na-Donu. The passenger flow for the January-July this year amounted to 1 387 th. people, which is 36.8% more than in the same period of 2010.
Passenger flow increase is due to the summer holidays season. Comfortable infrastructure, modern terminal, well-developed transfer technology, wide network of connection routes of the Moscow Domodedovo Airport, and the largest amount of unique routes among the airports of the capital make the Moscow Domodedovo Airport most attractive for the passengers choosing the airport when planning their trips.
Together with the passenger flow cargo traffic also experienced rise: it amounted to 15 792 tons, which is 24.6% more than in the last year. for the period from January to July 2011 cargo traffic of the Domodedovo has increased for 25.2% if compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to 102 120 tons.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest airport of Russia, accounting for 44% of the total volume of passenger traffic of the Moscow Aviation Hub. In 2010 22.3 mln. passengers used the services of the airport. More than 80 air carriers are the partners of the airport, including Russian and foreign airlines. Such respected aviation alliances as Star Alliance, oneworld and SkyTeam have selected Moscow Domodedovo Airport for their flights to Moscow.
