Sheremetyevo International Airport Passenger Traffic up 20.5% in January 2011
In January 1, 2011 Sheremetyevo International Airport served 1 million 454 thousand passengers, which is 20,5% as much as in January 2010.
Passenger traffic on international routes in January rose by 19.1% to 971,059 people, domestic flights — by 23,4% to 482.9 thousand.
In 2010, Sheremetyevo International Airport provided 15,932 takeoff and landing operations, which is 28,5% as much as in the same period of 2010.
The highest increase of passengers was recorded on flights by Transaero Airlines, Aerosvit and Aeroflot.
In January 2011, the most popular federal routes from Sheremetyevo Airport were St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Sochi, and international routes — Paris, Prague, Bangkok, Istanbul, Beijing.
In 2011, the airport expects continued high growth rates of the major operating performance through the development of the route network and increasing the fleet of aircraft carriers — airport partners, attracting new airlines, introduction of new passenger services.
With the integration and the introduction of full operation mode of South Terminal of the airport complex (terminals D, E, F) the attractiveness of the airport has increased for passengers, because the opportunity for airlines to organize convenient connecting flights on Europe-Asia route under one roof has increased as well.
Sheremetyevo Airport is going to serve more than 21.7 million people, which is 11% as much in 2010.
