Air Berlin establishes Corporate Users Advisory Council ? with Michael Kirnberger as Chairman
Germany?s second largest airline will be setting up a Corporate Users Advisory Council in May 2009. The declared objective is to be able to offer a more effective and flexible response to immediate market conditions. The Council?s key task consists in monitoring the development of the business travel sector and to ensure further improvement for Air Berlin in terms of how the interests and requirements of the market are realised.
As Chairman of the Council, Michael Kirnberger will be supporting and advising the airline, as well as submitting proposals for appointments to the committee. As a qualified airline professional with 37 years of experience in the industry and associations, he will be contributing his extraordinary technical expertise. Kirnberger, born in Darmstadt in 1947, began his career in 1972 in the ticket office of Lufthansa. From 1975 onwards he was employed as Corporate Travel Expert by a travel agency based in Darmstadt. In 1980 he took over as head of Corporate Travel Services at the Merck Group and was responsible for this section until the middle of 2008. From 1980 to 2009 he was an active member of VDR (German Travel Management Association), becoming a committee member in 1985 and taking over as chairman from 1994 until 2009. Air Berlin is delighted that such a renowned player in the business travel management sector will be coming on board.
The Corporate Users Advisory Council will comprise a maximum of five members and will meet twice a year to discuss current topics and developments in business travel.
