Another two courses are planned for both 2011 and 2012, but the exact start dates have not yet been announced. In February 2009 the Air Berlin Flightschool was the first pilot school in Germany to obtain approval from the German Federal Aviation Office for the new international MPL (Multi-Crew Pilot Licence) training standard. The MPL is tailored to the requirements of modern airlines. Trainees are prepared for working in the cockpit of a modern airliner from the outset. This means that special attention is paid to teamwork and to threat and error management in a multi-crew cockpit.
