Joachim Hunold, CEO of airberlin: "We are delighted that the political situation locally has become stable. It is important for Egypt's further development that the country now returns to normality as quickly as possible following the political upheaval. airberlin will actively support Egypt in this process and help to attract German tourists back to the country." Hunold has also approached the German government to help by earmarking some reconstruction aid for Egypt and Tunisia and lifting the aviation tax for these countries. In this he agrees with leading representatives from the tourist industry.
Due to positive developments in Egypt, Germany's second-largest airline will resume a broad schedule of flights to the Red Sea reports from 1st March 2011. Flights to the capital Cairo are continuing as scheduled.
