airberlin: 290,000 extra seats on flights to the Canary Islands
airberlin, Germany's second largest airline, is once again increasing the number of flights it operates to the Canary Islands for winter 2011/12. As of today, airberlin passengers can choose from 30 additional non-stop flights from various German airports to Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, Gran Canaria and Tenerife South. This extra capacity is equivalent to 290,000 seats. Through this increase in flights, the company is meeting the growing demand for holiday travel to the Canary Islands.
airberlin is providing five additional flights to the Canaries from Dќsseldorf alone, increasing the number of weekly flights from this airport to 22. This move also makes airberlin the airline with the largest number of flights to the Canaries from Dќsseldorf airport. From November 2011, the "Canaries Shuttle" will provide daily flights from Dќsseldorf Airport to Gran Canaria and Tenerife South. airberlin will also be operating non-stop flights to the Canary Islands from airports including Stuttgart with seven additional flights and Hamburg with five additional flights. Saarbruecken will also benefit from a connection to the hub in Nuremberg, enabling airberlin passengers to fly to tourist destinations in North Africa and the Canary Islands for the first time. The new winter flights operated from Saarbruecken by airberlin will also include a new non-stop connection to Las Palmas on Gran Canaria on Saturdays.
