One year anniversary of Etihad Airways scheduled flights from Domodedovo
On December 1 2009 Etihad Airways marked a one year of scheduled flights operated from Moscow Airport Domodedovo.
The airline operates daily flights from Moscow to Abu-Dhabi (UAE) by comfortable A320. The year of cooperation saw 662 flights performed and 49,4 thousand passengers transported.
Etihad Airways is a national UAE air carrier which is headquarted in Abu-Dhabi – the capital of the United Arab Emirates. At the moment Etihad Airways operates 57 destinations. Locations in the Middle East, Europe, North America, Africa and Asia are among them. Etihad Airways is named the fastest and dynamically growing airline in the history of commercial aviation.
In 2009 Etihad Airways has been awarded many times and the most honorable prize of the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2009 has made it the best airline of the world. 180 000 votes of industry professionals representing more than 175 countries made it possible. Etihad Airways has become the first ever company in the Middle East awarded such an honorable prize for strict etiquette observation, luxury departure lounges and best on board service.
Domodedovo is the largest airport of Russia and the Eastern Europe, the number-one Russian airport in terms of passenger traffic. Its share in general volume of passenger traffic in Moscow Traffic Control Area (TMA) makes 45,3 % (calculated for 9 months of this year). In 2008 Domodedovo airport provided services for 20,4 mln. passengers.
In 2009 United Airlines, TAP, Nord Star, Nouvelair and others have made partnership with Domodedovo. At the moment the number of air carriers totals 80 including 34 foreign airlines, 30 Russian and 16 representing the CIS States which operate to/from Domodedovo in 220 destinations worldwide. The route network of airlines which are Domodedovo partners represents the unique 94 destinations for Moscow Traffic Control Area (TMA).
