Domodedovo Airport widens a range of services provided to disabled passengers
In accordance with a programme of implementation of modern technologies of services provided to disabled passengers, Domodedovo International Airport extends a range of services available to this category of clients. Starting from mid-June a special ambu-elevator was set in operation. It allows transporting disabled people from the ground floor to an aircraft directly.
A model of ambu-elevator was installed on the basis of a motor vehicle ISUZU with a diesel engine (4HF1) equipped with a system of winter launch. Passenger compartment has a capacity for three wheelchairs, three accompanying people and a stretcher.
Height range of ambu-elevator servicing varies from a minimum of 1,450 mm to maximum of 3,800 mm. That allows disabled passengers to travel with any type of aircrafts (produced in Russia and in foreign countries), including giant aircrafts such as Airbus and Boeing.
New transportation technology allows disabled passengers to go down to the ground floor after the registration and to take an ambu-elevator to the get aboard of an aircraft from the ground floor. International arrival area is fitted out with two elevators connecting the passenger terminal with a parking lot, two special lavatories for disabled are available at international and domestic sterile areas.
Personnel of the Domodedovo Airport's Service for Disabled will accompany such passengers during their stay at the airport. Such services include: transportation from a parking lot or a public transport stop to the airport terminal and aircraft, as well as accompanying from aircraft to on-land transport. If necessary, disabled passengers can stay at a special comfortable hall during three hours prior to departure. Service Personnel will take care of check-in, passport control and customs clearance procedures and help handle baggage.
One of the priority tasks of the Domodedovo International Airport in providing services to passengers is to reduce all possible obstacles that disabled clients face prior to their departure and to improve quality of services for disabled people.
