Domodedovo International Airport’s capacity to experience a 57% growth this summer compared to 2003.
Anticipating further passenger traffic growth at Domodedovo Itnernational Airport, the EAST LINE Group is accomplishing development of a new programme for summer 2004.
The basics of the airport’s activity are anticipatory airport services introduce in comparison with the expected passenger traffic growth.
During the programme carring out a high emphasis will be laid on traditionally hot-spot procedures as passenger check-in and passport control for international flights.
The capacity increase will be backed up by passenger terminal enlargement and additional equipment install. The amount of check-in counters will grow 57% compared to summer 2003, thus ensuring traffic capacity up to 7.2 thousand passengers per hour. Currently, 20 new check-in counters are being installed, which step-by-step operation set-in will start from May 1. 10 new check-in counters will be opened in international area, the same quantity in domestic.
The amount of passport control counters grew 50% counting to 36 for departure (24 in summer 2003) and 38 for arrival (20 before).
The passenger terminal total area will be increased up to 10.000 m2.
In the framework of preparing for summer season, additional transport fleet was acquired, including 27 buses and 22 ladder-cars. The amount of telescopic bridges rose from 4 up to 11.
More than 50% passenger handling capacity augmentation will enable to considerably increase level of passenger service at Domodedovo International Airport.
Owing to new spaces introduce, passengers will be more comfortable at the passenger terminal. During summer 2004 three new business-lounges will be opened, two for Emirates and Siberia Airlines and a new common business lounge of Domodedovo airport.
Proper attention is paid to regular on-ground transport communication with the downtown. Currently, an engagement with Moscow railroad authorities was entered on Aeroexpress train connecting the airport with Paveletsky station. During summer peak hours intervals will be shorten from 60 to 30 minutes.
In the framework of parking lot development a new parking lot is going to be set into operation on April 27. The new parking features 900 parking places which is a 1.5% increase of the previous total parking capacity of the airport.
For those, preferring personal car transfer, two service elevators will be set into operation, enabling passengers to travel with their luggage from the passenger terminal to the lower-level parking lot on the left from the terminal.
High attention will be given to safety measures ensuring. A new cynology department has been created for the first time in Russia a new cynology department has been created with specialist dogs trained in the detection of explosives for 24-hour security control of the passenger terminal.
Owing to anticipated 30% production volume growth, considerable preparation for the summer season is done by Domodedovo Air Service catering facility. All administration departments will be moved to a separate newly built office block, thus enabling to considerably enlarge the production space of the catering facility.
