The collective bargaining process that has been ongoing since the beginning of the year has therefore been brought to an amicable conclusion. The new framework agreement for Air Berlin?s cockpit personnel includes a progressive adjustment of the key working conditions of Air Berlin pilots to match LTU?s level by 2013. These adjustments relate to the number of duty-free days per year, flexibility in the allocation of duty-free days per month as well as holiday entitlements and continued salary payments in the event of illness. Optimised models for drawing up duty rosters and assigning standby duties have also been agreed with Air Berlin and LTU. In addition the union and the employers have agreed rules for the introduction of an augmented cockpit crew on long-haul flights. On Wednesday, 3 March 2010, Air Berlin and "Vereinigung Cockpit", the German pilots' union, agreed to hold negotiations on unresolved issues of the framework collective agreement. As a result, the warning strikes announced by "Vereinigung Cockpit" have been called off.  >>>

With regard to the statements of its Austrian partner Mr. Andreas Nikolaus Lauda published in the Austrian press Air Berlin PLC states as follows:Air Berlin PLC is in advanced negotiations regarding the increase of Air Berlin PLC's shareholding in NIKI Luftfahrt GmbH, Vienna. The negotiations have not been completed yet and Air Berlin PLC has not yet obtained the approval of its Board of Directors. A board meeting is scheduled for tomorrow 17th February 2010.  >>>

The management of Air Berlin and LTU have successfully concluded the pay negotiations for cockpit personnel with the trade union VC (Vereinigung Cockpit). The new collective salary agreement for the cockpit personnel of LTU and Air Berlin includes a guarantee of 68 block hours per month backdated to 01.01.2009, and 69 block hours from 01.01.2010. In addition both companies ruled out any enforced redundancies before 31.12.2010. In return the union and the employers agreed to a pay freeze on linear salary increases until the end of 2010. Other elements are the safeguarding of the LTU cockpit personnel?s standard of living, an extra grade on the pay scale for Air Berlin?s co-pilots and the introduction of a sector supplement. Furthermore, a retirement plan funded by the employers is also being negotiated for Air Berlin?s cockpit personnel. ?This pay settlement has achieved a very responsible outcome,? said Christoph Debus, Air Berlin?s Chief Commercial Officer. ?After all, since this is the most serious crisis   >>>
