Domodedovo International Airport has released its operating results for the first five months of 2007. According to the results Domodedovo is maintaining its leading position in terms of passenger traffic among Moscow area airports. Overall passenger traffic at the airport in January-May reached 6.05 million passengers, an 18.4% increase over the same period of 2006. The highest growth was recorded to such destinations as Ekaterinburg, Hurghada, Antalya, Vienna, London, Bangkok, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Tashkent, Baku. Domodedovo served 1.5 million passengers on these routes, a 40.0% growth against the results of January-May 2006. ACI Europe (Airport Council International-European division) summed up the April’s operating results for 102 European airports. According to the Council’s report Domodedovo International Airport retains its leadership in term of growth dynamics among European airports of Group 2 whose passenger traffic varies between 10 and 25 million passengers a year. Domodedovo ranks the first among the most dynamically developing airports of the second group, with its growth indicator in April 2007 being 14.0 per cent compared to April 2006. Today, a new picture exhibition Plane Spotting at Domodedovo opens at the airport. The exhibition presents the best pictures of plane spotters taken during the photo session held in Domodedovo on May 22.For two weeks passengers will be able to see unique pictures of the landing and taking-off aircraft. International Children’s Day at Domodedovo International Airport in PicturesLast Friday youngest passengers and their parents of Domodedovo International Airport were able to visit a fairytale, namely they could penetrate through the Looking Glass. The concept of the festival came from the fairytales by Lewis Carroll, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass”. That day the festive decorations transformed the Domodedovo interior into a fairytale. Today, Domodedovo International Airport hosted the photo session of plane spotters, the aviation enthusiasts. It was the first time ever in Russia that about fifty best spotters of the country got together in Domodedovo. The event was organized at Domodedovo apron in the immediate proximity to the runways and taxiways under supervision of Airport Aviation Security officers. Participants had the opportunity to take pictures of the aircraft, precisely at the moment of their take-off or landing being at the safe distance from runways. Brussels Airlines has recognized Domodedovo International Airport as “the most pro-active airport”. On Sunday, April 15, a special Transaero flight from Kerkyra (Greece) brought the spear-hand of Sanctifier Spiridon of Trimifunt, a Greek healer and miracle-worker in Moscow.
