Tomorrow, June 26th the Euro-2008 Russia v Spain semi-final match is to kick-off. A million-strong army of football fans is supporting our team. From June, 27 Transaero airline to launch scheduled flights from Domodedovo airport to Vladivostok. Between June 18 and 19, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo, the pioneer in aviation spotting, welcomed the group of aviation photography enthusiasts and provided access to most convenient spots at the landing area. Around 30 world's spotting stars got together in Domodedovo and spent there two days. Stuck to their cameras, they couldn't take their eyes off the airfield in pursuit of capturing the moments from ordinary yet exciting airport life. For two days the apron, runways, taxi ways turned into spotters' workshop, where aircraft's landing and take-offs were in the main focus.Last year the spotters requested to hold such events more frequently, and this year the airport made the request materialized. According to the report Moscow Domodedovo International Airport is the leader of Group 2 welcoming between 10 and 25 million passengers per year. According the operational activity data for May 2008, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo keeps the leading position in Moscow aviation hub in terms of passenger traffic. Between January and May 2008 Domodedovo welcomed 7,529,956 passengers, that is a 24,4% rise over the same period of 2007. The passenger traffic for May 2008 was 1,853,280 people, that is a 26,5% rise over May, 2007. The primary growth was registered on flights to Saint-Petersburg, Bangkok, Frankfurt, Vienna, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Munich, Krasnodar, Sharm El Sheikh, Dushanbe. According the forecasts, Domodedovo’s passenger traffic growth will make more than 17 million passengers between June and August, 2008. That is a 15% rise over the same period of last year. Domodedovo intends to serve more than 3 million passengers on domestic flights and more than 4 million passengers on international flights.  The growth as compared to 2007 will compose 23% and 10% correspondingly. On June 2, 2008, German airline Lufthansa, the largest foreign air carrier operating on the Russian market, will increase the number of flights from Berlin and Hamburg to Moscow International Airport Domodedovo. Yesterday, on May 27, within the programme for regular airport tours, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo welcomed children from "The Childhood" Children's Rehabilitation Centre. Specialists from the airport explained the children how to find their way around the terminal and described preflight procedures. Through the airport windows children watched the aerodrome machinery and aircraft in operation. Special emphasis was made on services to people with limited mobility. Yesterday, on March 19 the international conference Aviation IT Forum, which was organized by Aviatransportnoye obozreniye magazine, was held in Holiday Inn Sokolniki. On May 9, 2008, Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport will hold a series of events dedicated to the 63rd anniversary of the Great Victory. Scenes from the life of soldiers will be staged at the airport terminal complex, the centre of the festivities. All day long, travelers and airport guests will be overlooked by a small detachment of soldiers wearing military uniforms from the times of the Great Patriotic War. Everyone will be able to take pictures of an improvised soldier halt. Passengers and airport guests will enjoy the holiday atmosphere, feel the spirit of the war time, and have a taste of what the war heroes felt. As May holidays are approaching, many Russians will go on vacation. It is expected that passenger traffic of Moscow International Airport Domodedovo during May holidays will exceed the same period of the last year by up to 20% and will total 975,000 passengers.
