S7 Airlines launched a new regular flight from Moscow (Domodedovo) to Yekaterinburg today. Daily flights to this destination will be operated using comfortable Airbus А319 aircraft. In addition to S7, flights between Domodedovo and Yekaterinburg are operated by Transaero and Urals Airlines. In 2007, the passenger traffic on this route grew by 48.3% and amounted to approximately 468,000 people. The routing network of Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport has expanded by a new destination now that “Polyot” has launched regular flights to Ostrava (Czech Republic). Flights from Moscow to Ostrava will be operated on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, departing at 23:50 and arriving at 00:40. Flights from Ostrava to Moscow will be operated on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, departing at 01:40 and arriving at 06:25. The flights will be operated using SAAB-2000 aircraft. Ostrava is a new destination not only for the airline and the airport, but also for the entire Moscow aviation node. It is the fifth Czech city to which direct flights from Moscow are operated. “Now that direct flights to Ostrava are available, Russian passengers will have a chance to discover an ancient city, the third largest Czech city after Prague and Brno. A group of cynologists of the Aviation Security Service of Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport is checking general education schools of the Domodedovo municipal district for explosives and detonation devices on the eve of September 1. This inspection is undertaken to prevent terror attacks and ensure children’s security in the course of the “Day of Knowledge” celebration.“The airport’s cynology group has been assisting the Domodedovo department of internal affairs in carrying out preventive activities on the eve of September 1 for three years now. ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International – European division) has published a report on performance of 107 European airports in June 2008. According to the report Moscow Domodedovo International airport is the leader of 2nd Group which passenger traffic varies from 10 to 25 millions passengers per year. A wedding ceremony was held today at Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport. A young couple, Denis and Natalia, asked Domodedovo to allow them to have their marriage registered at the airport on the day of a magical combination of numbers - 08.08.08. Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport has summarized its operation results for the first seven months of 2008. According to the statistics, Domodedovo continues to lead among the airports of the Moscow aviation node in terms of the passenger traffic volume. In January – July 2008, the airport serviced 11,955,779 passengers, which is a 19.5% increase as compared to the same period of the past year. In July 2008, the airport serviced 2,301,672 passengers, which is an 8.9% increase as compared to July 2007. The passenger traffic volume on the routes to the following destinations has grown most significantly: St. Petersburg, Frankfurt, Kaliningrad, Munich, Sochi, Bangkok, Sharm-El-Sheikh, Vienna, and Krasnodar. In January – July 2008, Domodedovo serviced 2,104,645 passengers on these routes, which is 1.7 times the number of passengers serviced on these routes in the first seven months of 2007.   >>>

European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) conducted audit of Domodedovo Technique to certify company’s capability to perform heavy maintenance services up to “C” check for Boeing 737-300/400/500 aircraft types. The EASA commission concluded that the company successfully passed the certification inspection. It is planned that Domodedovo Technique will receive its official Certificate and start offering C-check services in early September 2008. As from yesterday, July 9, the train service between Paveletsky Train Station and Domodedovo Airport will be operated by Aeroexpress Ltd. The project was previously owned by Central Suburban Passenger Communication Company Ltd.The new management plans to put in operation upgraded cars and to increase the frequency of train services.Domodedovo airport was first in Russia to launch train services between the airport and the city centre.
