World Airlines Interested in Launching New Services from Koltsovo
Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport airline marketing specialists held a number of key meetings with airlines’ representatives worldwide at the World Routes Forum, which took place in Berlin on 2–4 October 2011. As well, an important event took place in Ekaterinburg Airport’s booth there — the official signing of the agreement for the hosting in Ekaterinburg of the Routes Development Forum for the CIS Region on 24–26 June 2012.
“This year, the schedule of meetings was especially intensive, and we believe that the numerous talks with airlines will very soon transform into an expansion of international services in demand among both Sverdlovsk Oblast inhabitants and passengers using Koltsovo for transfer,” commented Koltsovo Airport Commercial Director Sergey Dotsenko. “Ekaterinburg Airport being the host of the Routes CIS 2012 Forum has emphasized its dominating position in the air services market, and we have noted airlines’ big interest in partnership.”
The airlines Koltsovo had negotiations with in World Routes 2011 included Air France, Air Berlin, Swiss, British Midland International, Alitalia, Meridiana fly, Iberia and Vueling from Europe. The interest shown by those airlines allows us to calculate on opening in 2012-14 of direct scheduled air services to Paris, Berlin, Zurich, Geneva, London, Madrid, Barcelona and other cities. The airlines ready to meet the high passenger demand for air services from Ekaterinburg to Ukraine are AeroSvit, Ukraine International Airlines, and the Wizz Air low-cost airline. The Asian destinations of Beijing, Guangzhou and Sanya are popular as before, and the development of these air routes was discussed with China Southern and Hainan Airlines.
As a reminder: previous years’ 20-minute meetings at Routes Forums (according to the rules, each company cannot take more time) were the starting points of cooperation between Ekaterinburg Airport and such airlines as Finnair, Air China, flydubai, and Air Arabia, which is to launch its first flight from Ekaterinburg on 29 October 2011.
. Several airports and cities competed for the right to host Routes CIS 2012. During their visit to Ekaterinburg in the summer of 2011, the organizers gave a high rating to the development level of the city and the grounds offered for hosting the event and accommodating the attendees; therefore, they decided in favor of Koltsovo and the city of Ekaterinburg.
On 24–26 June 2012, Ekaterinburg will host the 2nd International Routes Development Forum for the CIS Region. It will be the first Routes CIS Forum to be held in Russia
