The aviation safety authorities have closed many airports and airspace in Central and Eastern Europe from Brittany to Paris, Berlin and the Baltic due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland and the resulting volcanic ash suspended in the atmosphere.
Like all airlines, Air Berlin is subject to governmental and air traffic control regulations.
Virtually all German airports have been closed, and are expected to remain closed until 6 PM. This specifically affects Air Berlin at the following German airports: Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Hannover, Hamburg, Berlin, Bremen, Cologne, Münster/Osnabrück, Paderborn, Leipzig/Halle, Dresden, Erfurt, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Saarbrücken, Sylt, Rostock, Frankfurt.
No arrivals or departures will be possible at these airports until further notice. We would ask our passengers not to travel to the airport, but to follow their flight status on the "Flight Information" page on the Web.
Passengers may rebook or cancel flights affected by cancellations free of charge. You may rebook or cancel your flight within three days after the original departure date.
We are currently unable to make any accurate predictions as to how the European flight traffic situation will develop.
Air Berlin is in constant contact with the authorities and airports concerned, and will keep you informed on further developments and the consequences for Air Berlin flights as quickly as possible.
